Benefits of [PROFESSIONAL] Facials

It’s no secret that good skin comes from either genetics (lucky ducks) or by having a professional work their magic on your skin.

You must be wondering, what is the difference in having someone else work on my skin vs doing it myself?

Well, there’s a reason estheticians go to school and that’s to master the trade of SKIN! We go through extensive training to do the work for you, learning the ins and outs of what causes skin conditions, how to manage your skin concerns, what to use, and how to use skincare products. Trained licensed professionals have tricks up their sleeve that will leave your skin looking like a glazed donut…yes please!

It can be quite jarring trying to figure out what skincare products are not only going to work and give you the biggest bang for your buck, but which ones to choose.

What are some great add-ons for facials that will enhance my results?

Facials are totally customizable to each client; first thing is first. Observe the skin and analyze their skin concern, this will help in choosing the right add on for the session so they get the best outcome.

DERMAPLANING | If you are looking to have skin softer than a baby’s you know what, dermaplaning is the route for you. Dermaplaning is a procedure that shaves away dead skin cells along with your vellus hair, also known as the peach fuzz, on the top layer of your skin. This treatment helps with product absorption as well as makes the skin’s surface look smooth. People with acne-prone skin or active acne should stay away from doing this treatment as it can spread bacteria, causing more of a breakout.

ENZYME PEEL | An enzyme peel is a treatment that uses fruit and vegetable enzymes to assist in exfoliating the skin and in combating several skin problems such as acne, wrinkles, and congested skin. This is a great choice if you are looking for quick skin rejuvenation. Some of the most common enzymes used are from pineapple, coca, papaya, pumpkin, and pomegranate. This peel is a great alternative to a chemical peel for someone with sensitive skin.

HIGH FREQUENCY | High frequency is a device that gently warms the skin by using Neon and Argon gases. Two of my favorite reasons to use this is providing circulation and cellular turnover - both things that benefit us all!

- Neon - an orange-red gas used to treat wrinkles, skin tightening, shrinking enlarged pores, and general anti-aging

- Argon - a violet gas used to treat acneic skin and kill bacteria

LED LIGHT (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) | A skincare-specific device that uses various wavelengths of light to regenerate the skin. This is a quick and easy way to give your skin a more youthful appearance in under 10 minutes.

- Red Light - Red light treats the epidermis to stimulate collagen proteins - collagen provides structure and support to your skin for a smoother and fuller look - and is also used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Red light can also work to reduce inflammation and improve circulation.

- Blue Light - Blue light, on the other hand, targets the oil glands in charge of lubricating your skin so it doesn't dry out. When sebaceous glands become overactive, skin can become too oily and/or acneic. Blue light can be used in conjunction with red light since both can be used to reduce inflammation.

SKIN SCRAPER | If you're looking for deep exfoliation, this tool will be your best friend! Known as a 'skin scraper' this device works using ultrasonic waves to loosen and draw out excess dead skin cells, debris, and comedones. This is the add-on you need if you're looking for a good clean!

IN SUMMARY

It's always a wise choice as a provider to offer several add-ons because skincare is not cookie cutter, and facials should be customized to each individual and to all kinds of skin needs.

Of course, you can do your skincare and a facial on your own, but you not only get to benefit from some “me, relaxation time” you are leaving potential risks to your skin to your providers rather than dealing with skin issues you may not know how to treat. We are equipped with tools and machines that do not normally sit on your bathroom shelf. Leave us to do the job and enjoy the benefits!
